South Delta traffic heavy as expected

Mall and ferry traffic combine for a long drive
traffic jam
Shoppers wanting to check out the new Tsawwassen Mills mall this long weekend will have to wait in traffic.

Drivers heading to the new Tsawwassen Mills shopping mall or hoping to catch a ferry can expect to wait in heavy traffic this Thanksgiving long weekend.

B.C. Ferries had already warned motorists to expect as much and to give themselves extra time if they wanted to head down Highway 17A to the ferry terminal.

B.C. Ferries is now warning travellers that the parking lots at the Tsawwassen and Duke Point terminals are already at full capacity.

Heavy traffic was anticipated in South Delta as shoppers from around the region were expected to check out the new mall on the weekend. Some people via social media are reporting that it's gridlock in the parking lot to even get out of the mall.

Millions were spent on highway upgrades during the mall's construction to help traffic flow, including changes at the 56th and 52nd street intersections.
