There wasn't much of a crowd at a special Delta council meeting at municipal hall late last month to give conditional approval to a bylaw banning pay parking in all public use zones. Ian Paton was the only councillor in attendance for the quick meeting, while councillors Bruce McDonald, Jeannie Kanakos and Scott Hamilton, as well as Mayor Lois Jackson, participated by phone. Final approval of the new bylaw was scheduled for another afternoon meeting the following day. The bylaw is the result of the municipality's opposition to TransLink's plan to implement fees at all park-and-ride lots.
