The Delta Libraries invite you to register for their popular book clubs.

Do you love reading books and the prospect of discussing them afterwards?

Book clubs offer social connections and the opportunity to discover different perspectives about the selected books you’ve read.

Your local Delta library welcomes new and returning members.

At the George Mackie Library, the Afternoon Book Club meets on the third Thursday of the month (Sept. 21, Oct. 19, Nov. 16 and Dec. 21) from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. and the Evening Book Club meets on the second Tuesday of the month (Oct. 10, Nov. 14 and Dec. 12), from 7 to 7:45 p.m.

At the Ladner Pioneer Library, the Monday Evening Book Club meets on the fourth Monday of the month, (Sept. 25, Oct. 23, Nov. 27) and Dec. 18, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Register library.

At the Tsawwassen Library, the Tsawwassen Page Turners meet on Mondays, Sept. 18, Oct. 23, Nov. 20 and Dec. 11 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and on Wednesdays, Sept. 20, Oct. 25, Nov. 22 and Dec. 13 from 1 to 2 p.m.

Your library invites you to check out a selected book and meet for a lively discussion. Books provided.

There are book clubs for ESOL (English Speakers of Other Language) speakers and adults with developmental disabilities.

ESOL speakers meet at the George Mackie Library on Wednesdays beginning Oct. 25, from 1 to 2 p.m. At this fun and educational book club, you’ll discuss a book together and learn new words and phrases to gain confidence in expressing yourself more accurately and precisely. Starting Sept. 25, from 1 to 2 p.m., The Rosy Reader Book Club offers a weekly opportunity at the Ladner Pioneer Library for adults with developmental disabilities to read and learn together, talk about literature, make friends, and have fun in a relaxed community setting. Seating is limited. Registration is required.

Are you a senior looking for something a bit different?

On Wednesdays, Sept. 27, Oct. 11, 25, Nov. 8, 22 and Dec. 13, from 11 a.m. to noon, join library staff for Lifelong Literature at the McKee Seniors Centre for a reading of short stories. There will be a lively discussion afterwards. No membership is required.

Are you interested in poetry? Join library staff at the McKee Seniors Centre for an Introduction to Poetry Workshop on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Participants read poems, analyze poems, and even write their own poems if they feel comfortable doing so. Please bring a poem that you enjoy to share with the group.

And, for something completely different: we invite adults to head over for Colourful Connections: Adult Colouring Club at the Tsawwassen Library on Mondays, Sept. 25, Oct. 23, Nov. 20 and Dec. 18, from 1 to 1:45 p.m. for colouring and live readings.
