The annual Delta Career and Technical Career Fair last Thursday at the Sungod Recreation Centre offered young people plenty of ideas for potential career paths. The largest number of attendees and exhibitors yet took part in the event, started by Mayor Lois Jackson in 2013 to inspire students to pursue a variety of career options in the trades and technical areas. The event featured hands-on, interactive exhibits, demonstrations and the opportunity to talk directly with experts in the field. Jackson said getting a university degree shouldn’t be considered an automatic for young people because learning a trade could land them a high-paying job and a rewarding career.
