The upcoming long weekend will mark the 40th anniversary of the Tsawwassen Sun Festival.
"It's going to be lots of fun and hopefully everybody can come out," said Sun Festival co-ordinator Elaine Campbell.
A concert at Winskill Park featuring The Left, a Langley band inspired by groups like the Beatles and Coldplay, Sunday night will help mark the festival's four-decade milestone.
"That's where the concert comes in. We wanted to do something different and keep people around a little bit longer," said Campbell.
The all-ages show goes from 7 to 9 p.m. while the fireworks at the South Delta Recreation Centre are slated for 9: 30 p.m.
The fair's big day, Monday, gets going at 8 a.m. with a Kiwanis pancake breakfast. A highlight of the Sun Festival, the Rotary Club parade rolls along 56th Street (starting at 16th Avenue and ending at Winskill Park) beginning at 11 a.m.
Midway rides, a marketplace, martial arts demonstrations, a BMX air show and a pie-eating contest all take place Monday.
Frisbee golf, an addition to the festival this year, will have a tournament on Saturday (registration starts at 9: 30 a.m.) as well as a "family day" event Monday starting at noon.
An antique fair takes place Sunday and Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Delta Recreation Centre.
The rec centre also has a skateboard competition running Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The SunFest Music Festival returns for its second year and takes place throughout the long weekend.
"A lot of great talent is going to be there," said Campbell. Century Group and the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall are sponsoring the main stage.
