The second edition of Walk with your Doc in South Delta takes place Sunday at Boundary Bay Regional Park.

The event is a short, fun, community walk.

"If there's one thing I could advise people as a physician in terms of their physical health, mental health and just wellbeing is to get out and stay active," says Dr. Martin Ray, who will be one of the local doctors taking part in Sunday's walk.

He is the lead physician with the Delta Division of Family Practice, which participated in the initiative last year. The Delta Division of Family Practice is a non-profit organization with a focus to improve health care for all Delta residents.

Walking is safe, not hard on your joints and a good way to socialize, Ray said.

Over 60 people of all ages took part last time, he noted, adding there were shorter and longer walking options.

The event is set for Sunday, May 4 at Boundary Bay Regional Park.

Participants are advised to meet at the Centennial Beach Café. Check in is at 9: 45 a. m. while the event is scheduled to start at 10 a. m.

Free pedometers will be given out. Pets are welcome to take part.
