The teen accused in February's fatal Tsawwassen First Nation stabbing was scheduled to be back in court Thursday afternoon.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be identified due to his age, has been held in police custody since his arrest following the Feb. 15 attack. The teen stands charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder after two girls were allegedly attacked.

Police were called to the 1700-block of Tsawwassen Drive at around 10 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found two teenage girls lying on the ground suffering from stab wounds.

Both were treated at the scene and air lifted to hospital.

One girl, 16, succumbed to her injuries while the second victim, 15, was seriously injured.

Last month, the teen was ordered to remain in custody pending the outcome of a second court-ordered assessment.

The judge ordered an assessment for the purposes of a possible bail hearing.

The teen already underwent an assessment to determine if he is fit to continue in the judicial process. The results of that report were not discussed in court; however, the accused did make a brief court appearance.
