The Tsawwassen Business Improvement Association (TBIA) is proud to announce the installation of 10 custom Sunny Tsawwassen bike racks in its commercial district.

The installation of these bike racks represents a part of the Tsawwassen BIA’s mandate to create a vibrant commercial district for the community and visitors to enjoy.

This project offers additional bike parking that will allow more locals and visitors to visit on two wheels and are also colourful additions to the community. Dispersed throughout the commercial core of Tsawwassen these bike racks will make it more convenient to leave the car at home and explore the commercial district on two wheels.

“With so many in our community enjoying the benefits and ease of choosing two wheels instead of four, the Tsawwassen BIA knew that this capital project would benefit both our member businesses and the community,” said TBIA executive director Michelle Barlow.  “Incorporating our well-known Sunny Tsawwassen sand dollar into the design speaks to the uniqueness of our beach community. The bike racks are not only functional they represent a form of functional public art by design, adding a splash of colour and fun to our commercial district. We love seeing them used by our community as they visit the shops and services in Tsawwassen.”

Now in its sixth, five-year term, TBIA and its volunteer board of directors continue to focus on promotion and business development, and on creating economic opportunities for its members through many avenues including marketing and advertising and commercial and municipal-owned area beautification and place-making.

Encouraging the community to think local first is the priority with the enjoyable experience of frequenting the local small businesses that make their home in Sunny Tsawwassen.

“The bike racks look better than I could have imagined,” added TBIA president Randy Scott. “I just hope that people don't think that they are just pieces of art and will use them for their intended purpose, which is to lock up your bike.”
