Earthwise is one of three Delta groups that recently received funding grants from the provincial government.

The Burns Bog Conservation Society, Earthwise Society and Delta Marine Rescue Society have all received various funding grants from the provincial government.

Last week, the province announced more than $12 million in new funding for public safety and environment programs that will support 281 non-profit organizations in the province.

The Burns Bog Conservation Society is receiving $62,000, the Earthwise Society is receiving $77,000 and the Delta Marine Rescue Society is receiving $75,000.

Delta North NDP MLA Ravi Kahlon said these local organizations will be able to protect ecosystems and keep people safe thanks to more than $200,000 in funding from the Community Gaming Grants program for environmental and public safety initiatives.

“Protecting our local wetlands helps to mitigate the impacts of flooding, drought and climate change for our community,” said Kahlon in a news release. “Wetlands also give us natural places to play, learn, and explore. Supporting organizations like the Burns Bog Conservation Society helps ensure our wetlands will be here for generations to come.”
