Three Delta groups share gaming grant funds

Three Delta organizations will be receiving more than $186,000 collectively from the provincial government in the latest round of funding through the community gaming grant program.

Among the 250 not-for-profit organizations receiving funding are the Burns Bog Society who will receive $62,500 that will be earmarked for ecosystem conservation and education outreach; Earthwise Society will receive $58,750 for education and outreach.

Organizations providing emergency and safety services are receiving approximately $5.5 million to deliver their community-led programs. These include restorative justice, volunteer firefighting, emergency preparedness, and search and rescue.

Delta Marine Rescue Society is the third local organization to receive funding, in which $64,700 will go towards marine search and rescue.

“Burns Bog is a part of Delta’s identity and must be protected for generations to come,” said Ravi Kahlon, MLA for Delta North. “Burns Bog Conservation Society not only helps protect this area, they also offer educational programs to ensure people can continue to enjoy this beautiful place.”
