Delta is home to three of eight new mobile weigh stations recently completed throughout the Lower Mainland.

The $2.3 million project is part of a new enforcement strategy for the province's Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement Unit. The mobile scales are strategically located to target would-be violators and

officers will rotate between various sites to maximize the chances of catching violators.

The three Delta stations are located at Highway 99 and Ladner Trunk Road south, northbound Highway 91 north of Highway 10, and Highway 99 and the Ladner Trunk Road westbound on-ramp.

The sites are all pull-out

areas on highways with a wide shoulder, giving officers a safe place to inspect and weigh commercial vehicles.

"The new weigh scales in Delta and in the Lower Mainland will make sure that commercial vehicles are checked and inspected appropriately," said Delta North MLA Scott Hamilton.
