Let’s head back to June 13, 1970 when Delta residents got to cool down to a new amenity on 47th Avenue in Ladner.
That’s when the new community pool officially opened for swimmers.
The pool would have been opened a couple of weeks prior but had been delayed to due to a plumbers strike that year.
Fast forward to March 202,3 and the Ladner Outdoor Pool had an unprecedented early opening, which was about two months ahead of the usual schedule, coinciding with the closure of the Ladner Leisure Centre pool for the next six months for mandatory roof repairs.
Extensive work has been done to prepare the outdoor pool for the cool overnight and early morning temperatures that would result in high demand of the water heating system.
