Two hundred riders will contest this weekend’s Tour de Delta.

Some of the top cyclists in North America will battle it out on local streets in the 16th edition of the Tour de Delta this weekend.

The Tour de Delta, which carries a total purse of $25,000, kicks off B.C. Superweek, which includes races throughout the Lower Mainland next week.

This weekend will once again feature three races over three days: the MK Delta Lands Criterium tonight in North Delta, the Brenco Criterium tomorrow evening in Ladner Village and the UCI-sanctioned White Spot Delta Road Race on Sunday in Tsawwassen.

Due to ongoing road work on Delta Street in Ladner Village, there's a new course for this year's Brenco Criterium, which will take riders along 47A Avenue.

In addition to the racing, there will be several other activities over the weekend, including community festivals in Tsawwassen (Dennison Park) and North Delta (Richardson Elementary), Kids Crits and a youth race.
