Shred-it

Coquitlam Rotarians will be accepting unwanted papers to shred at its spring fundraiser. The Shred-a-Thon drive-thru is in the Canadian Tire parking lot (1200 Seguin Dr.) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations are accepted for the club’s community outreach projects.

Seed swap

Get ready for the gardening season at a drop-in event at the Port Moody Public Library (inside Port Moody City Hall, 100 Newport Dr.) from 1 to 3 p.m. Bring your extra seed packets or seedlings to the swap and trade them for new treasures for your green spaces. Vegetable and flowers, heirloom and hybrid varieties are welcome. Two officials with the Master Gardeners of B.C. will be on site to answer questions. The event takes place in the ParkLane Room.

Ventriloquist and family entertainer Kellie Haines is at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam (1205 Pinetree Way) for a 3 p.m. show called A Birdy Told Me So. Haines is a teacher of puppetry/ventriloquism and regularly performs at children’s festivals and schools. Tickets are $10.

Extra! Extra!

Students in the North Shore Mountain Theatre perform Disney’s Newsies Jr. at the Terry Fox Theatre (1260 Riverwood Gate, Port Coquitlam) at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. The musical is a family-friendly show. Tickets are $14.91 each.

Dance into spring

Enjoy a dinner and a dance with the Brian Zalo Mix at a spring fling at the Royal Canadian Legion branch 133 in Port Coquitlam (2675 Shaughnessy St.). The festivities run from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Triskellion — aka Rebecca Blair, Michelle Carlisle and Rosie Carver — plays jigs and pop hits with a Celtic twist at a 7 p.m. concert at Place des Arts (1120 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam), where Blair and Carver are on faculty.

Devon Brayne revisits Johnny Cash’s concert from Folsom Prison in a concert at The Show Theatre at the Great Canadian Casino (2080 United Blvd., Coquitlam) at 7:30 p.m.

Salsa party

Get your dancing shoes on and groove to the Latin beats at St. Clare’s Hall in Coquitlam (2888 Delahaye Dr.). A beginners’ lesson to learn the Salsa moves is at 8 p.m.; the dance party is from 9 p.m. to midnight. Admission is $15 at the door.
