Truck burns on Hwy. 17 overpass

No injuries reported

Traffic slowed and motorists gawked late Monday morning when a  semi-truck caught fire on Hwy. 17, at Hwy. 99.

The fire caused lane closures and a visual distraction, according to a posting on X by Drive BC.

DriveBC said westbound traffic was temporarily blocked, along with the southbound off ramp.

At about 1 p.m., the truck was still on the Hwy. 17 overpass, with the right lane blocked, although traffic was getting by, while the southbound off ramp had been re-opened, said DriveBC.

Delta Police A/Insp. James Sandberg said the incident happened at about 11:35 a.m. and said no cause has been identified and there were no injuries.
