Merchants at the 200-store Tsawwassen Mills are starting to hire staff in preparation for an October opening.

More than 1,000 jobs will be up for grabs at Tsawwassen Mills, which is holding a big job fair next weekend in Vancouver.

Featuring 200 stores, including 16 anchor tenants, the destination mall set to open this fall at the Tsawwassen First Nation is inviting job seekers to come to the Vancouver Convention Centre at Canada Place June 25 and 26.

The list of retailers participating in the job fair includes a few new names that haven't been announced yet as tenants at the 1.2-million-squarefoot shopping centre, which will celebrate its grand opening Oct. 5. Job fair hours are noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 25 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 26.

"The job fair is an important step towards the grand opening," said Tsawwassen Mills general manager Mark Fenwick, "and will help connect our tenants with potential employees who are seeking a new opportunity to work for exciting brands."

According to mall developer IvanhoƩ Cambridge, Tsawwassen Mills will offer highly-anticipated brands and several firstto-market retailers that will attract shoppers from across Greater Vancouver, Vancouver Island and beyond.

Modeled after CrossIron Mills in Calgary and Vaughan Mills in Greater Toronto area, the mall is to be a mix of premium fashion brands, factory outlets and restaurants as well as a 1,100-seat food court.

The mall is expected to create 3,000 full-time and part-time jobs. For more information about the job fair, check the Tsawwassen Mills website at tsawwassenmills.ca.

Next door to Tsawwassen Mills will be a new 550,000-squarefoot outdoor mall called Tsawwassen Commons, which is also set to open this October.

That mall is expected to feature over 100 retailers and restaurants, including such major tenants as Walmart, Canadian Tire and Rona.
