Splashdown Park has served as a summer attraction, and a place to cool off on a hot day, in the Lower Mainland for more than 30 years. The park's lease is up at the end of the 2016 season.

After more than 30 years, this could be the last summer for Tsawwassen’s Splashdown Park.

The park’s land lease is coming to an end at the end of this season.

“Splashdown has provided great summer experiences for tons of families over the years,” said general manager Harold Frederiks.

The park has become a summer staple in the Lower Mainland since first opening on July 1, 1984.

“We hope we have been able to create fun memories of waterslides as part of growing up in the Lower Mainland,” Frederiks said.

Many local students had their first summer jobs at the park and many couples met while working at the park.

“There have been a lot of laughs, from annual charity events for Make-A-Wish to getting to meet great people over the year,” he said.

Splashdown attracts close to 100,000 visitors to the park every summer.

Wanting to go out with one last big splash, the park has some special events and giveaways planned for the coming season.
