People equipped with an iPhone or iPad can now more easily navigate their way around parks in Metro Vancouver with the newest release of iParks Navigator.

One of the most exciting changes is the re-structuring of iParks Navigator to include municipal park data. Metro Vancouver collaborated with the City of Richmond in the development of this latest version which includes regional parks, regional greenways, the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve, and parks managed by the City of Richmond.

The latest release of Metro Vancouver's smart phone application, iParks Navigator, is now available for download from iTunes. Enhancements with this latest release include faster synchronization and more efficient handling of data.

One of its more popular features is a mapping function drawing features such as trails and facilities from a database, which enables users to accurately locate their position or navigate along a trail in real time.

It uses location services of the iPhone and map data to provide directions to a park - whether you walk, cycle, drive or take transit. Other features include video profiles of parks, photo galleries and a search function for finding a park according to type of facility or by activity. There is also a calendar of events, park advisories and safety information.

iParks Navigator is available only for iPhone and iPad. As part of a special time-limited promotion, it can be downloaded free of charge directly from the iTunes App Store.
