Delta police are currently investigating a case of a missing person in South Delta.

The department is releasing few details at this time, only saying that officers are investigating a missing persons case that led them to an unoccupied residence in the 2000-block of Tsawwassen Drive in Tsawwassen First Nation.

A/Sgt. Sarah Swallow said the investigation is in the preliminary stages and more information is expected to be released later this morning.

UPDATE:

Swallow said Delta police have been investigating the case of a missing man since Feb. 24. During the course of the investigation, officers were led to the house on Tsawwassen Drive, which has been unoccupied for some time, she said.

Swallow said there does not appear to be any connection with the Tsawwassen First Nation but the man has been seen at the house in the past.

"At this time, police are conducting a thorough search of the property as we believe it will assist us in furthering the missing person investigation," she said. "The Delta Police treat all missing person investigations very seriously; as such, we treat all scenes cautiously as they can provide valuable forensic information that can assist with our investigations."

She described the case as serious but would not say if investigators believe foul play might be involved.

"At this point, this is a missing persons case," Swallow said.

No other information about the missing man or the case is being released at this time but Swallow said police will have another update at 4 p.m.

More to come.
