An evening of dinner and music is aimed at raising money for a local charity.
The Little House Society is holding its second annual Jazz and Dinner Evening on at Sharkey's Seafood Bar and Grill on Saturday.
The society recently opened the brand new Little House on 12th Avenue in Tsawwassen.
Originally a family home, the house was purchased by the Corporation of Delta in 1979 where it served as a home for programs offered by Delta Mental Health and Richmond Alcohol and Drug Action Team.
In May 1982, it was made available for 12-step meetings and in 2004 The Little House Society was established to oversee the facility.
For 27 years, the house severed as a meeting place for 12-step recovery groups.
In 2009, the house was destroyed by fire and late last year the society launched a fundraising campaign to help rebuild the house.
Construction was completed earlier this year and the society celebrated it's grand opening in June.
Aside from rebuilding the house, the society is aiming at expanding its services.
The new 1,800-square foot facility will also be available to the community for use as a multi-purpose space, as well as an education facility for the group. As part of its mission, the society has committed to reduce and prevent the harm associated with substance abuse, and to support the efforts of abstinencebased recovery through the collaboration, education and facilitation with community stakeholders.
Saturday's event runs from 7 p.m. until 9: 30 p.m. Tickets cost $30 and include a three-course meal and entertainment featuring the Pat Gurr Trio with a special guest appearance by Angie Hurst.
