Bad for the community or a much welcomed opportunity for a night out of dining and slots?

It should come as no surprise readers’ reaction to our latest online poll regarding the opening of the Cascades Casino in Ladner, expected to happen sometime this fall, was mixed.

We asked our readers: “Are you excited about the soon to be open new casino in Delta?” The poll ran from July 4-8 and attracted 386 participants, including 213 from within the community.

Just over 60 percent opted for “No. The new casino will just bring nothing but trouble to the community.”

That left the remaining 40 percent opting for “Yes, it is going to be great to have new entertainment options so close to home.”

Results are based on an online study of adult Delta Optimist readers that are located in Ladner. The margin of error - which measures sample variability - is +/- 4.95%, 19 times out of 20.
