When will Delta's newest hotel open?

Preparations for hotel guests and staff training will soon be taking place
The finishing touches are underway on the newest hotel in the City of Delta.

A new 124-room hotel located next to the recently opened casino in South Delta will be opening in the coming weeks.

Located next to the interchange of highways 99 and 17A, Delta Hotels by Marriott - Vancouver Delta is slated to open at the end of November or the early part of December.

The exact date is to be announced and is based on construction completion and obtaining the necessary permits to open, said Jeff Krivoshen, President, South Fraser Hotel LP, in an update to the Optimist.

The hotel is in the finishing stages of construction and workers have been actively loading the furniture, fixtures, and equipment into the building over the course of the last five weeks, he said.

The management team is in place and are starting to interview for all the other supervisory and line-level positions, he added.

In addition to the approximate 600 positions created by the Cascades Casino complex, the Delta Hotels by Marriott is expected to employ an additional 50-to-60 people.

Preparation for hotel guests and training of the team will occur throughout the month of November.

The hotel will feature an outdoor pool and hot tub, a fitness centre, meeting space, sundry shop, a Grab 'n' Go coffee shop serving Starbucks and easy access to the casino and its associated eateries.

The hotel will also feature a separate high-end day spa, named Severine Spa and Wellness that is expected to open in February to the public.

The hotel is owned and operated by South Fraser Hotel LP, which is jointly owned by P.R. Hotels Ltd. and Meridian Development Corporation.

Merdian Development Corp. is the general contractor for the project, while P.R. Hotels Ltd. will be managing and operating the hotel.

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment celebrated the grand opening of the Cascades Casino Delta on Sept. 29.

It features 160,000 square feet of entertainment space with a gaming floor as well as Gateway's signature restaurants – The Buffet, Summit Bar and MATCH Eatery & Public House, which features a multi-season patio and the Bud Room.

The gaming features 500 slots, 18 table games and stadium-style gaming.
