The greens and fairways at Bald Eagle Golf Club will remain quiet for the summer in Point Roberts as company restructuring continues.

“There’s nothing much happening here at the golf course right now,” said course superintendent Rick Hoole, adding that he hopes it will re-open in the fall.

“Can’t really say right now, because there’s just nothing happening.”

The Bald Eagle Golf Club closed in March 2020 as the pandemic hit, then re-opened last year for about seven months. It closed in the winter and new people have invested into the company, Hoole said.

New owners bought the club in 2017 and improved the course. Currently, only some minor touch ups, along with hiring some more staff, would be needed for the course to open.

According to Bald Eagle’s website, “We have rehired our maintenance team, so that is good news. The greens and fairways have been cut and the bunkers are being taken care of. Our reopening date is to be determined.”

However, local businesses are struggling with a labour shortage and are trying to get permission for Canadians to work in Point Roberts, as used to be the case.
