The province has started consultations with the public on a plan to replace the George Massey Tunnel. Options mentioned to date range from refurbishing and expanding the 53-year-old tube to building a bridge. It remains to be seen whether a new crossing will provide a complete solution to traffic woes. The Optimist asked:
CARL D'AMICO
In that area, yes, if it's big enough and wide enough.
PAT YOUNG
No. Unless we go back to what our ancestors used to do and that was use light rail transit, we are not going to solve our problems. We also have to get people out of their cars to use this transit system.
ELMAR SCHULTES
My opinion is nothing's going to happen for a long time.
REBA WILLIS
In about 20 years, I guess, the way things move so quickly.
LAURIE PRAK
An extra crossing will, not a new one.
