Witnesses sought in fatal crash

43-year-old pedestrian hit on Ladner Trunk Road Tuesday morning succumbs to her injuries in hospital

Delta police are looking for several potential witnesses to a fatal pedestrian collision in Ladner this week.

Just before 8: 30 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck at the intersec-tion of Ladner Trunk Road and Elliott Street.

A 43-year-old woman had been crossing Trunk Road when she was struck by a car making a left turn from Elliott Street.

Delta police spokesperson Sgt. Sharlene Brooks said the driver of the car, a grey Nissan, that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene and was joined by two men who tried to help the victim.

"The victim was transported to hospital for medical treatment," she said. "Sadly, the victim, a 43year-old female resident of Delta, succumbed to her injuries at hospital with family by her side."

As a result of the initial investigation, Brooks said, police believe there were witnesses that have not yet spoken to police.

Investigators are looking to identify and speak to the two males who stopped at the scene to help the victim as well as the driver, described as an older female, of a burgundy minivan.

"This minivan is believed to have been at or near the intersec-tion at the time of the collision and the driver may have information that would assist police," Brooks said.

In addition to those identified, Brooks said investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Const. Lisa Coupar at 6049464411 and quote file 11-20410.
