A year ago it was a close call silver medal performance and this time the Delta Islanders came away with bronze at the Provincial Junior B Lacrosse Championships in Burnaby.
The West Coast Junior Lacrosse League champions' bid to reach the top of the podium ended with a heartbreaking 7-6 loss to the Vancouver Island representative Saanich Tigers on Sunday morning. Delta regrouped to defeat the Vernon Tigers 13-9 in the bronze medal game.
The Islanders had opened the tournament by battling league rival Burnaby Lakers to an 8-8 tie before cruising to a 13-2 win over Vernon. Saanich went on to defeat Burnaby 12-10 in the final.
