The 23-year-old from Tsawwassen has been named to Canada's 24-member squad following a month-long tryout under head coach Arnd Ludwig.

The national team will compete at three international events this summer: the Pan Am Cup in Lima, Peru June 8-17, the World University Games in Kazan, Russia July 6-16 and the NORCECA (North and Central America and Caribbean) Championships in Omaha, Nebraska September 14-22.

Team Canada will also host a Canada Cup/Exhibition Series in Winnipeg from Aug. 19-23.

Charuk, a 6-foot-2 middle blocker, earned a full-ride scholarship to the University of Houston after graduating from South Delta secondary. She was named first team all-conference in her junior and senior seasons with Cougars.

She has since been playing professionally in Croatia for ZOK Splitt 1700. She is one of just 12 players who have been selected to play in Peru.
