In an exhilarating weekend of baseball, the Tsawwassen Athletics Peewee Chili Peppers emerged victorious at the prestigious Kathy Thomas Memorial Tournament in Surrey.
The team’s success was a result of exceptional teamwork, skillful plays, and the indomitable spirit that led them to clinch the championship.
The Peewee Chili Peppers were led by the outstanding pitching of Kooper Purbs, Jake Culbert-Steele, and Rory Lee, whose combined efforts on the mound kept the opposition at bay.
Alec McDonald, Evan Chatha, Cole Prevost, and Ethan Wood made significant contributions, consistently driving in runs and keeping the scoreboard ticking.
However, it wasn’t just the offence that shone brightly; the team’s defence was equally formidable. Rhys Abercrombie, Linkoln Thomas, Thomas McNulty, Brayden Vetter, and Axel Asher displayed amazing fielding skills, making play after play.
The path to victory was not an easy one, with the team facing tough competition.
A hard-fought semi-final saw the Chili Peppers take on the North Delta Yankees. The victory in this crucial match set them up for the final challenge against the host team, the Surrey Canadians.
In the championship game, the Chili Peppers showed why they deserved to be at the top, securing a memorable win that will be celebrated for a long time to come.
A special thanks goes to coaches Gavin Lee, Craig Vetter, and Karsten Purbs, whose guidance and mentorship were instrumental in leading the young athletes to their triumph.
