Goaltender Rebecca Noble and blueliner Will Sharpe are headed to Whistler next weekend for the final selection camps of their respective U18 and U16 provincial teams that will be headed to the Canada Winter Games in February.

A pair of standout hockey players from Delta have been shortlisted to play for Team B.C. at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Summerside, PEI.

Tsawwassen blueliner Will Sharpe and North Delta goalie Rebecca Noble have been invited to B.C. Hockey’s Program of Excellence (POE) Prep Camps that will finalize the rosters for their respective U16 and U18 teams headed to Summerside.

The prep camps are part of the phased selection for B.C. Hockey to evaluate and ultimately choose teams that will represent the province in Summerside next February. Each camp features 26 players with the final 20-person rosters announced after it concludes. They both will take place in Whistler, Dec. 16-18.

Sharpe was selected 11th overall by the Lethbridge Hurricanes in last spring’s Western Hockey League Prospects Draft.

He is in his second season at the Yale Hockey Academy in Abbotsford where he has aged up to the play for the U18 Prep Team, producing six points in seven games so far this season.

Earlier, Sharpe came through the South Delta Minor Hockey Association before skipping his final year at U13 to play for the Greater Vancouver Canadians Major Bantam team.

As member of the Fraser Valley Rush of B.C. Hockey’s U18 AAA Female League, Noble tops all goaltenders with an 8-0-0 record and a 0.78 goals against average with two shutouts.

The 16-year-old North Delta native also played at the rep level for the Richmond Ravens.

The Canada Winter Games take place from Feb. 27 to March 5, 2023.
