Masters swim clubs across the country depend on the hundreds of dedicated coaches who invest a significant amount of time, energy and enthusiasm. The Excellence in Coaching award recognizes the coach who stands out in this exceptional crowd.

Baker has made significant club and individual accomplishments and is a long time contributor to masters swimming.

She presents a positive image of coaching and demonstrates a concern for the all-round development of the athlete.

Recently, Baker led her swimmers to a strong showing at the provincial championships where the Otters set several records.

The highlight was new Canadian mark in the 4x100 SC freestyle relay by Elizabeth Smith, Kenna Papadopoulos, Fernanda Ho and Lynda Mageau. Their winning time of 6: 06.27 beat the older record by a minute.

The same foursome also set new provincial records in the 4x50 free (2: 38.84) and the 4x50 medley (2: 57.20).

Meanwhile the team of Diana Thompson, Sofi Hindmarch, Danielle Mageau and Pauline Joly de Lotbiniere established a B.C. record in the 4x100 free (4: 46.09) in the 120-159 age group.
