Beach Grove Golf Club Associate Golf Professional Andy Hajer has been named the Lower Mainland's Junior Leader of the Year by the PGA of BC.

This award recognizes golf professionals who are leaders in junior golf and who reflect the ideals of those who work with youth.

Hajer, a Tsawwassen resident, came to Beach Grove Golf Club five years ago and began working with junior golfers soon after.

"Working with young players really fuels my passion for the game of golf. There is nothing I find more rewarding then helping a young person learn and grow through the game of golf." said Hajer

Beach Grove Golf Club is home to one of B.C.'s most active junior golf programs with more than 300 golfers as young as four years of age participating at various levels.

The program focuses on yoyth developing a life-long love for the game of golf and building skills that will help them on and off the course.

Chair of the BGCG Junior Committee Jeff Norris nominated Hajer for this prestigious award.

"Golf is an endeavor that produces character, sportsmanship and pride. It can give a young person an identity, provide them with friendship and teach them a healthy competitive attitude. Andy always keeps these concepts at the fore front of his work with our juniors," said Norris.

"We are very proud to have him involved with our junior program and we were excited to see him recognized in this way."

Hajer will also be considered for the PGA of British Columbia's Provincial Leader of the year, with the winner being announced later this year.
