Delta Junior "A" Islanders will open their main training camp this weekend with another top intermediate graduate in the fold.

The B.C. Junior "A" Lacrosse League club have acquired Tyler Nett from the Burnaby Lakers in exchange for Trenton Matsuzaki and the playing rights to Wade Galbraith.

Nett, a right-hander from Richmond, enjoyed a couple of outstanding seasons in the in the B.C. Intermediate "A" Lacrosse League with the Roadrunners, finishing 12th in league scoring last year with 39 goals and 40 assists in 23 games. He adds to an already impressive 2012 rookie class that includes Eli McLaughlin, Sam Clare, Mike Henry and Ray Calderwood.

"It was a hard decision to trade away a hard working player like Trenton and a draft pick like Wade but to get a two time intermeidate 'A' all-star like Tyler, we had to make the trade," said Islanders general manager Jamie Scott.

Nett is also noted for his leadership on and off the floor. He should benefit from playing with one of the league's top established right-handers, third-year veteran Mike Mallory.

Under new head coach Shaun Springett, the Islanders will be holding sessions from 9 a.m. till noon on Saturday and Sunday at Sportstown on Richmond. The training camp roster will include at least six goalies battling to take over the number one spot after Blake Duncan graduated.

The club has also announced its third annual Dinner and Silent Auction will take place Saturday, April 21 at the Sundance Banquet Hall in Ladner. For tickets contact Mary Clare at [email protected]
