Haiden Dickson and Brody Harris sent to playoff bound teams

Delta Islanders leading scorer Haiden Dickson had been traded to the defending B.C. Junior "A" champion Coquitlam Adanacs for the balance of the season.

Brody Harris should get his first taste of B.C. Junior “A” Lacrosse League playoff action.

The Delta Islanders third-year netminder has been traded to the Victoria Shamrocks for a second round pick in the 2020 BCJALL Midget Draft.

The Ladner native was named goalie of the year in the former B.C. Intermediate “A” Lacrosse League before aging up to join the Islanders in 2017.

Despite his steady work, Delta will miss the playoffs for the third straight season and enter the final week of league play with a 3-15-0 record.

Last summer, Harris backstopped Canada to the IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship in Saskatoon, earning all-tournament honours.

The Shamrocks currently sit second in the BCJALL with a 13-5-0 record.

Harris’ Team Canada teammate Haiden Dickson is also on the move. Delta’s leading scorer was dealt to the defending league champion and first place Coquitlam Adanacs for future considerations.

Dickson’s 45 goals in 18 games is only one off the league lead. The Delta Lacrosse product still has two more years of junior eligibility remaining.

Harris and Dickson’s playing rights will revert back to the Islanders for the 2020 campaign.

In a third deal prior to the July 1 deadline, the Islanders sent veteran defender Riley Merritt to New West for the playing rights to Max Duchnycz, Will Carriere and a 2022 fifth round midget draft pick. Duchnycz currently plays for New West’s Junior “B” Tier One team. Carriere was taken 31st overall in this year’s midget draft.

Merritt was acquired from Coquitlam in the off-season for Connor Evers.
