Ladner teams enjoy impressive showing at Oregon tourney

Ladner Boys Soccer Club's development program got the 2011-12 season off to a tremendous start with a strong showing at the Nike Mt. Hood Challenge in Portland, Oregon.

Ladner teams captured two division championships in decisive fashion and reached the semi-finals in another. The tournament is the largest of its kind in the Pacific Northwest with 495 teams participating in this year's event, ranging from U9 to U19.

It was the first significant trip for the U9 Celtic and the locals certainly made the most of it.

Ladner rolled to four straight wins and had outstanding individual performances by a number of players including a four-goal game from Jordan Bach and a pair of shutouts from goalkeeper Jackson Lawton. The team also includes: Marek Gunn, Alyssa Semler, Matthew Burt, Noah Thomas, Evan Neaves, Jackson Lawton, Damon Badenhorst and Sean Weichers.

The Celtic are coached by Paul Bach, with assistants Scott Neaves and Kevin Lawton.

The U11s had little trouble in capturing the Silver championship, racking up five straight victories and outscoring their opponents 34-1 en route to gold.

Ladner FC's U10 squad captured its opening three games in decisive fashion, outscoring its opponents 21-7, before losing a 3-1 heartbreaker in the semifinals. Celtic went on to finish third in its age group. The team includes: Spencer Yesowick, Ravail Nijjar, Kian Mackie, Zac Sherwin, Josh Bermel, Jack Chadd, Nic Lanchester, Samuel Wilkinson, Braedy Euerby, Carter Torok and Quinn Torok. The coaches are Jack Torok and Doug Wilkinson.
