Ladner's Brandy Lietz is among 57 top ringette athletes who will be in Ottawa this weekend for the national senior team selection camp.

Following the evaluation sessions, the Canadian coaching staff will be announcing the athletes who will make up the Team Canada squad that will go on to train for the 2013 World Ringette Championships being held in North Bay, Ontario at the end of December.

"At the end of the weekend our intention is to select a squad of 27 athletes so that we can spend the next 10 months training as a team and not fighting for a position on the team," said Glen Gaudet, Team Canada head coach.."

Finland currently holds the world title after beating Canada 6-3 at the 2010 World Ringette Championships.

Lietz, who plays for the B.C. Thunder of the National Ringette League, is one of six B.C. athletes who will be attending the camp.
