Earl MacPherson will be back to defend his title when the 2011 Envision Financial Beach Grove Amateur tees off on Aug. 20.

Last year, the Semiahmoo and Loomis Trail Golf Club member shot a terrific final round 2-under 70 to finish the 36-hole event at 140 and slip past first round leader Jerome Cavangh of Beach Grove and three-time B.C. senior champion Gudmund Lindbjerg.

The low net honours went to Beach Grove's own Dave Otto who fired sizzling rounds of 63 and 66 to outdistance perennial contender Ben Rothfeder and Bryan Leonhardt.

This marks the sixth year of the partnership between Envision Financial and the Beach Grove Amateur, with the tournament annually donating to a local beneficiary.

Without the support of Envision Financial it would not be possible and this year the event committee hopes to add to the total of $60,000 that has already been donated to local charities in Delta. This year's beneficiary will be the Boys and Girls Club of Delta and Richmond.

"Envision Financial has been a tremendous partner over the past five years, and without their support the tournament would not be able to support this very worthy cause in our community" says Brent Derrheim, Beach Grove Head Golf Professional.

Many volunteers from the Boys and Girls Club will be on hand and getting involved with this year's event.

"The Boys and Girls Club is a tremendous organization and we are thrilled to be partnered with them and look forward to carrying on our relationship for years to come," added Derrheim.

The Envision Financial Beach Grove Amateur tournament has established itself as a premier event and is on the calendar of many of B.C.'s finest golfers.
