More competition success for Tsawwassen Martial Arts

Students bring back lots of medals from recent tournaments

It has been an exciting month of competitions for Tsawwassen Martial Arts (TMA) students.

Students have started their competition season with great success.

On March 2, TMA attended the Steveston Invitational Tournament with 38 students ranging in age from five to 37.

Results were as follows:

Alyssa Magee – bronze in kumite

Amelia Jorgenson – bronze in team kata

Arlo Cran – bronze in kumite

Cecilia Magee – silver in kumite

Claire Naysmith – bronze in kumite

Connor An – silver in kata, bronze in kumite

Cooper Maxwell – gold in kumite

Dallas Maxwell – silver in kumite

Donald Jorgenson – gold in kumite and gold in kata

Emily Lapadatu – gold in kumite, gold in kata, bronze in team kata

Emily Montgomery – silver in kumite, bronze in kata

Ethan Vanneste – silver in kumite

Hannah Franis-Bain – silver in kumite, silver in kata

Harrison Maxwell – bronze in kumite

Isabelle Lapadatu – gold in kumite, silver in Kata

Isla McDowell – silver in kata, bronze in kumite

Jane Weir – gold in kumite, bronze in kata

On March 9, a group of 10 students travelled to Kelowna for another tournament and returned with 17 medals.

Several students are heading to the North American Open in Las Vegas at the end of March and another group is heading to Mexico for the World Championships in July.
