Peggy Noel is poised to cap off her impressive track career at South Delta secondary in style.

The Grade 12 student, who is headed to Simon Fraser University in September, ran a personal best to finish second in the 1500 metres at last week's Fraser Valley Championships.

Noel was clocked in 4: 37 and will be a medal contender at the B.C. Secondary Schools Track and Field Championships, slated for June 1-2 at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby.

She also qualified for the 800 metre event after placing third.

A number of other strong performances were turned in by SDSS athletes.

Daniel Finkle ran eighth in the senior boys 800 metres, in a time of 2: 03 while Harrison Wade's time of 2: 12 in the same race was a season best for him.

Personal bests were also turned in by Mackenzie Connors and Jordan Baum in the senior boys 3,000 metre race. Connors placed 10th in a time of 9: 32 while Baum was a whopping 26 seconds better than his previous best time, finishing at 10: 22.

Connors also competed in the 2000 metre steeplechase, placing ninth.

In the junior events, Jenna Palmer turned in a solid performance in the 1200 metre race, finishing in a time of 4: 46.

Hailea Caldwell was fourth in the discuss, thanks to a best toss of 22.2 metres.
