Delta Islanders A1 Novice lacrosse team continued its outstanding season by capturing the Bellie Bowl Tournament in New Westminster.

Already sporting one of the top regular season records in the Lower Mainland, the Islanders avenged its only loss of the tournament to end the weekend in thrilling fashion.

Delta won two of three round-robin games, getting past Burnaby and New West but falling Coquitlam. The locals earned another shot at the Adanacs and made the most of it by putting together a solid well-played game in a 7-4 victory.

The Islanders entered the tournament having recently been promoted to A1 due to their consistent success.

"We are really proud of the hard work these kids are committing to the game," says coach Doug Morison. "They are achieving a strong and consistent level of play and we are very proud of what we have achieved to this point. This season they have really proven themselves as a team, making smart plays, lots of great passes and are really having a lot of fun."

The team includes: Silas Richmond, Lincoln Taylor, Colby Hodson, Keegan Kozack, Ben MacDonald, Russell Howlett, Luke Thodos, Hayden Tuba, Quinn Ridley, Mathew Morison, Matthew Burt, Reese Ferreira, Rhys Porteous, Vaughn Thomas, Bennett McKay, Noah Wickett, Van Lupien and Max Yingling. Rounding out the coaching staff are Andy Walters and Ryan Walters.
