It was a picture perfect weekend with a golden ending for the Delta Islanders at the Pee Wee "C" Provincial Lacrosse Championships in Vernon.

The Islanders rolled to five consecutive victories, including a 10-5 triumph over Penticton in the championship game.

The coaches were very proud to hear so many positive comments from all the participants and sponsors at how well the boys played and conducted themselves.

Their sportsmanship is a true testament to the great families that brought them there. Not only did they bring home gold, but they acted as champions should all season long.

Delta defeated Mission 3-1 in the semi-finals after recording earlier roundrobin wins over Juan de Fuca (11-4), Abbotsford (9-8) and North Okanagan (8-5).

Michael Calvert earned tournament MVP honours and was named to the all-star team. Kristian Campbell was crowned the Trix-with-Stix champion for the second straight year, while Josh Spencer received the Fair Play Award.

The team also includes: Mitch Robinson, Connor Sillett, Brayden Maskell, Quin Bianchini, Josh Ogilvie, Jon Greig, Bryson Ferry, Liam Harris, Ben Simms, James Greig, Kenny Ross, Josh McKenna and Cole Stracuzza.

Other accomplishments this season included winning the Lower Mainland League title and finishing third at the Port Coquitlam Tournament.

The players gave everything they had and had fun along the way. Coaches Brian Robinson, Rajan Singh, Wally Wolinski, and Emmit Cherewyk couldn't have asked anything more from any team.
