A couple of productive days at South Surrey Athletic Park have earned a pair of provincial berths for South Delta Sun Devils boys rugby teams.
The Sun Devils seniors cruised past Fleetwood Park on Thursday to finish third in the South Fraser AAA Championships and secure their spot at the B.C. Secondary Schools AAA Championships, starting on Wednesday (May 31) in Abbotsford.
Slowed by some key injuries down the stretch, South Delta dropped its semi-final game against Lord Tweedsmuir the previous week, before rebounding against Fleetwood.
Meanwhile, South Delta defeated long-time rival Earl Marriott for the second time this season 15-10, to be crowned South Fraser Junior Boys champions.
It was three weeks ago when the Sun Devils handed the Mariners their first regular season loss and they followed it up with another clutch performance to earn the banner. They will also be heading to Abbotsford next week to contend for the provincial title.
