Rower helps Shawnigan Lake win silver

Tsawwassen's Leah Bracken has followed her brother's rowing success at Shawnigan Lake School on Vancouver Island.

Tsawwassen's Leah Bracken has followed her brother's rowing success at Shawnigan Lake School on Vancouver Island.

A year after Robert Bracken won a pair of gold medals at the Brentwood College International High School Rowing Regatta, Leah helped the Shawnigan Junior Girls Four crew finish second.

It was an exciting race, where just 35 seconds separated second from sixth place.

The 42nd annual Brentwood regatta is one of the largest in North America, with some 1800 athletes entered in a record 186 races. There were 38 participating rowing clubs and high schools from the Pacific Northwest, including super clubs from Seattle and Oregon.

Bracken is now looking forward to this weekend's 52nd Annual Shawnigan Lake Regatta.

When at home, both Leah and Robert train at the Burnaby Lake Rowing Club where they enjoy the world class environment.
