Masters from Delta Deas Rowing Club made a definite impression at the recent Cascadia Regatta at Burnaby Lake.

The event is the largest masters regatta in the Lower Mainland, attracting clubs from B.C., Washington, Oregon and Alberta. Delta rowers came away with eight gold, six silver and four bronze medals.

Notable performances included Stephanie Payne who won a medal in every event she entered. Given that she spent the weekend organizing the many volunteers who helped make the regatta possible, her achievement was amazing.

Katie Mahoney, who has been rowing for less than two years, came in second in the lightweight single event. Racing a single as a newbie is frightening enough but to come in second is icing on the cake.

The rowing club was also very busy over the same weekend hosting the rowing competition for the B.C. Summer Games.
