The South Delta Secondary senior boy’s rugby team capped off a wonderful run at the

Tier 2 AAA provincial championships Saturday with a thrilling 33-30 come-from-behind win over Victoria’s Claremont Secondary.

The Sun Devils came up with a late push scoring two tries and converting on each within the last 10 minutes of play to take the lead after trailing the whole game.

Claremont’s side then scored in the final minutes of the game to narrow the gap, but the Sun Devils held on for the victory.

Overall, South Delta went 2-1 during the week.

They opened play with a 13-10 loss to Riverside from Coquitlam, which dropped them into the consolation side of the draw.

Up next was Mt. Boucherie in which South Delta prevailed 21-10, which then set up the fifth/sixth place game against Claremont.

The senior boys roster included: Liam Andersen, Bradley Batista, Jacob Blackwood, Jasper Breurkens, Jordan Brown, Lukas Carlson, Jun Choi, Hayden Clisby, Randy Collier, Tyler de Dios, Luis de la Haza, Ethan Dodd, Jack Dosenberg, Tucker Draper, Miguel Franco, Joshua Groenewold, Darius Hanna, Lucas Hernandez, Connor Hoffman, Carson Holmes, Jeremy Holmes, Max Lang, Owen Loveless, Leighton Marquardt, Austen Mcallorum, Oskar McPhie, Tyler Olfert, Adam Reid, Sawyer Shears, Dawson Sjoberg, Jacob Stemerdink, Nicolas Tolander, Matthew Walker and Connor Yackel.
