A solid season for the Grade 8 girls volleyball team at South Delta Secondary is in the books.

The team won four tournaments throughout the season while placing second in one other tournament. They won the Delta school league and lost only one match during the regular season finishing with a record of 42-1 and won gold at the South Fraser Regionals to clinch a spot at the provincials.

At the provincials, SDSS won their pool 3-0, but lost a heartbreaker in the quarterfinal, which put them out of contention for medals. The team rebounded, however, to finish fifth overall.

Rebecca Prisecaru was named a first team all-star at the tournament.

Coached by Lawrence Eade and Jodi Latremouille, the team was led by Prisecaru, who Eade described a one of the best 13-year-old players in the province, Brynn McKee, Elliott Eade and Kiera Nyeste, who were all voted as team captains.

The rest of the roster included: Adalia Lekakis, Kaylee Budda, Georgia Sjoberg, Mikaela Arriola, Sienna Holbeche, Aynsley Jordan-Knox, Charlotte Milner, Alina Paul and assistant coaches Anne Howlett, Olga Heather, Alysha Deslippe and Henry Mason.
