The South Delta secondary track and field program has overcome the challenges of the current teachers' labour dispute to continue with their season, leading up to next week's Fraser Valley Championships. Even without the valuable volunteer assistance of SDSS staff members, about a dozen SDSS athletes have produced some excellent results to date.

The Sun Devils competed at the recent South Fraser Invitational at

Bear Creek Park in Surrey where several personal best performances were achieved.

The group was led by the efforts of Daniel Finkle in the 1500 metres (4: 22), Jordan Baum in the 3000m (10: 48) and Ross McLeod in the 800m (2: 20). Other strong performances were turned in by Peggy Noel in the 1500m (4: 51), Mitch Dino in the 100m (12.50), Victoria Simpson in the 200m (31.06) and Hailea Caldwell in the discuss (20.88m) and shotput (7.15m) throwing events. The team is scheduled to compete in another meet in South Surrey this afternoon in what will be the Valley Championships, slated for May 15-17.
