Tsawwassen swimmer Dalton Boon has been named to the Canadian team that will be competing at the 2011 Para Pan-American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico Nov. 12-20.

Boon, who swims for the UBC Pacific Dolphins, won five gold medals while representing Team B.C. at the recent Western Canada Summer Games in Kamloops.

For Craig McCord, coach for the Para Pan-American Games swim team, the event will primarily feature Rio 2016 hopefuls.

"We'll be introducing our next wave of Paralympic hopefuls as part this team," said McCord. "The goal is to provide these young athletes with major multisport games experience."

"This kind of opportunity for our up and comers is vital to getting them ready and excited about the next five years leading into the Rio games. The athletes will get to experience high level competition within a multisport, multi venue and games village atmosphere.
