It was another statement win for the North Delta Huskies as they cruise towards a perfect record in the Sur-Del AAA Boys Basketball League.

The Huskies jumped out to an early 11-2 lead and rolled to a 85-58 home court win over the South Delta Sun Devils on Monday night in a battle of 3-0 teams.

The province’s ninth ranked team at the 3A level was dialed in from three-point range for much of the night, led by standout guard Harvi Hothi who was fresh off earning first team all-star honours at the Rick Hansen 2023 Roundball Tournament last weekend.

The Sun Devils did manage to crawl back to within 10 points after one quarter (25-15) thanks to Josh Marghartis coming off the bench to drain a pair of threes. However, the Huskies remained in full control, opening up a 43-25 advantage at the half and never looked back.

The Huskies will close out their league schedule with games against Grandview Heights, Clayton Heights and Salish. They will be heavy favourites for the league playoffs, slated for Feb. 21 and 22.

The Sun Devils will look to bounce back tonight (Wednesday) against LA Matheson and have a big game next Wednesday (Feb. 15) when they travel to Ladner to take on the Delta Pacers in the annual Stebbings/Murray Cup rivalry game. Both teams are now tied in the standings with 3-1 records. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.

Following the Sur-Del playoffs, the top teams will move onto the South Fraser Championships in Richmond. Three provincial berths will be on the line.
