Trio of South Delta Storm teams advance to Final 4 playoffs

Trips to provincial championships will be on the line this weekend

There will be plenty of Storm watching this weekend thanks to impressive post-season runs by South Delta Minor rep A1 hockey teams.

The Storm U18, U15 and U13 squads have all advanced to Pacific Coast Amateur Tier 2 Final Four playdowns where they will be looking to secure berths in their respective provincial championships, slated for later this month.

The U18 Storm will be in Port Coquitlam where they will be taking on Port Moody A1, Hollyburn A1 and hosts PoCo, beginning Friday night.
South Delta defeated the Richmond A2 Jets 4-1 in a single-knockout game, then outlasted Chilliwack A2 in a four-point series in three games to secure its Final Four spot. It included a pair of shutout wins (3-0 and 4-0). The teams also battled to a 2-2 tie. The U18 A2 provincials will take place in Campbell River.

The U15 Storm will be at Sungod Arena in North Delta battling Vancouver Minor A1, Port Coquitlam A1 and Hollyburn A1 for a trip to the U15 Tier 2 provincials in Vernon.

The locals advanced by rallying to defeat Port Moody A1 in a four-point series, dropping the first game 5-2 before producing 4-2 and 3-1 victories. They opened the post-season with a 4-2 win against Coquitlam A2.

The U13 Storm earned its trip to the Final Four at Britannia by sweeping Port Moody (6-1, 5-3). The team’s quest to advance to the U13 Tier 2 Provincials in Salmon Arm include games against Burnaby Winter Club A2, Vancouver Minor A1 and Semiahmoo A2.
