UBC softball player Alana Westerhof has been named the Association of Independent Institutions' Female Athlete of the Week.
The Delta secondary graduate dominated on the diamond as she finished with 13 RBIs in six games at the Northwest Cup for the Thunderbirds. She went 11-for-22 and belted three home runs over the course of the tournament.
Westerhof also pitched a complete game seven-hit shutout which included seven strikeouts to knock off previously undefeated Concordia (Ore.) on Sunday.
UBC, with a record of six wins and seven losses, will be traveling south this weekend to take part in the Southern Oregon tournament, which begins today.
Westerhof and South Delta secondary graduate Lindsay McElroy are in their fourth seasons with the Thunderbirds.
